Вид считается либо мнонотипичным, либо делится на 5-6 подвидов (из номинативного выделяется somaliae (занимающий Эфиопию, Эритрею и Сомали). Если азиатские подвиды имеют более менее четкие границы, то у африканских разные авторы указывают несколько различные границы, но в целом caesia - запад африканского ареала, cyrenaica - центр, и rueppellii - восток.
